difference in refractometers

It is just about time to get rid of the old swing arm and invest in a nice refractometer. I am just curious about the differences in price. I have found refractometers that cost $25.00 and some that cost upwards of $120.00. What should I look for when getting a refractometer? Do the cheap ones work well or are they inaccurate? Thanks in advance.

I paid $40 + shipping for mine. It seems to work just fine. If you calibrate it properly and keep it clean I think the lower priced units will be ok. jmo

I'm about to find out. Just bought one from Hong Kong for $30 + $10 shipping. Says it's accurate within .001% and a warranty for 3 years. Just hoping it's cheap because it's made in Hong Kong.

Will do. Probably won't get it until middle of next week though. My payment won't "clear" until tomorrow.

Received today and seems to work great. My floating hydrometer was about 1% higher than my refractometer displayed. So this whole time, I've been a little low on my salinity. That is, if the refractometer is working as advertised. And according to all, the refractometer should be much more accurate so I am going with that.
