hey ya'll

i have two clarkii clowns, and they seem to enjoy digging holes at night. we were just wondering if that is a trait of the clarkiis lol we love tuffy and bob to death, but it's freakin funny to see bob (he's atleast 2 and half inches) asleep underneath the donut coral.
does anyone else's clarkii do this??

I don't know if I'd call it digging, but I have a tomato clown that likes to use his back end to vigorously stir up the sand bed. He especially likes to do this in the back corners, and it's kind of annoying. He's only recently started doing this, though, and I've had him for about 10 years. He seemed to start doing it after I recently added a green reef chromis. Strange.

haha my maroon started doing that after we added these two. it's sorta annoying cause one "digs" right by the rocks so we have to fill the holes every morning

Yeah, I've had him for about 10 years. Actually, there were three fish I had for that long. The tomato, a perc clown, and a four-strip damsel. The tomato was the only one to survive a recent prolonged power outage. He was very, very near dead when the power came back on, and I didn't think he would make it, but he's doing fine now. Can't really get any good pics, but maybe I'll try later.

Hi - I just brought 2 perc clowns into my tank on Friday (the first fish I have) and I noticed a pretty good sized ditch in my sand bed the next morning. I wondered how it got there - this morning it's even bigger, in the same spot! Do they lie down?? The tank is in our dental office so I'm not there to watch them at night
- this is my first time with SW and I had no idea how addicting it is. I really wish I could sit infront of the tank all day (and night) and watch them! Glad to hear other people's clowns dig, too!

I honestly think it's part of some mating or nesting behavior. I used to have a damsel that did it as well.
