I know I have been absent for a while on this board, but I am currently in the market for a digital video camera. I was just wandering what is a great starter camera for me to try. I am not looking to spend a great deal, but I do want it to be decent. I just want the best for my money. Thanks alot. Any other opinions besides ryan are also welcome. Always great advice on this message board. Thanks again Ryan.
Thanks

I just got a sony trv22, I love it, I don't know how to do 1/2 of what it can do but I really like it, you can take digital stills on it but they are not very good quality, okay for emails or things like that. I think I paid around 600.00 for it. Its a mini DV and has a memory stick.

Birdy, what is the memory capacity of the given memory stick in mB? I am looking at the brochures right now and still condering..

it's only 8mb, it will take about 25 pictures, if you try to record off of it it fills it up quick so I really don't use it to record. I researched a ton before I bought this and this line seems to be one of the best in the middle price range.

I am considering the trv22E over the trv19E model partly because of the memory stick that I can record in mpeg.. but with 8mB I think I might pass with the memory stick and consider the trv19E. Is the colour view finder really that good/necessary?

I really like the color viewfinder (although I don't use it that much) as far as the memory stick, it is not that much money to just buy another one. I like having the memory stick but you have to decide if it is worth the extra bucks.

Thanks Birdy. There is a price difference of about US$100 between these two model. I'll think about it a little more :)
