What exactly does distilled water have that I don't want in my tank?
depending on the company, it can contain some copper even, though i hardly doubt it would. put it this way, others are making your water for you and contaminants can get in at any time during a process IMO. this can even be included in the container jugs that theyre carried in. while i still believe that distilled water is very pure, i dont trust a manufacturer to handle my water for my tank.
also, its more expensive thatn ro/di in the longrun lol.

You must think I am a moron. Thanks for that. I do check and request water quality reports for the water I use.
I do not have the luxury of having the ability to install a RO/DI unit.

i mustve clearly stated that somewhere. i just stated facts about distilled water. like i said, i believe its still very pure water. as for an ro/di, do you not have a faucet? I cannot install mine anywhere so i've got a snap fitting on my kitchen faucet that i use when i make water

Gemmy, from the above picture...is that little strings with bubbles? If it is, you are right it's dino not cyano. It feeds on the phosphates, that's why your test reads 0. I had a little bit of it in the seahorse tank and hair algae starting. I also rinse my mysis shrimp.
I suspect my filters are ready to be changed. Nonetheless, I got some Phosbuster Pro and added that. The dino is gone and I suspect in a very little while the HA will follow once I do a good water change. That's what I did, so I thought I would pass it along...Hope it helps.
