Dipping corals and fish

Freshwater dipping fish.
Does it even work?
When would you use it and how?
While I'm on the subject of dipping I have some coral dip questions too. When iodine dipping zoas in lugols's iodine solution, how many drops per gallon?
Do my other corals (shrooms, green stars, xenia, palythoa) need to be dipped to? And how would I do this?
Thanks!

personally i wouldnt "dip" a fish since that would cause a lot of stress..
when dipping corals most people do this if they have an infection of some kind or if they are new they dip them, or if they just fragged it..

I use Reef Dip by SeaChem...for all my new frags and colonies. That's just because I don't wanna introduce any flatworms and other undesirable hitchhikers. In addition, the dip is supposed to provide a protective coating that in some ways should help the coral thrive at first.
If the frag is tiny I might not do it...but if it's a medium to small piece of rock I will because you never know what can be lurking in the rock. Kinda paranoid, huh?
But it works and it lets me sleep at night.
