Disappearing Fish

On Saturday I bought a spotted cardinalfish. He was doing really well hanging out near the top of the tank, eating fine etc. Last night I went to dinner at my parents house. Three hours later when I returned home there is no sign of my new fish.
Could the coral-banded shrimp have eaten him or the long tentacle anemone? I just don't get it. There is absolutely no sign of him anywhere.
What could have happened?

make sure he is not in a rock somewhere or maybe even trapped and stuck on a powerhead or something?

I'd check to make sure he did not jump out. I think I answered a post similar to this. Or is it just Deja Vu?

I have one and sometimes he hides and I can't find him anywhere. I'd make sure he isn't stuck in a rock. I've had that happen several times, believe it or not!
