Disease Questions

Hello, I have bought a blue hippo tang, and after being in my QT for about 2 weeks, I have started to notice two white dots appearing on the fish (have been there for about 1 1/2 weeks). One (the largest of the two dots) is on its left pectoral fin. The other dot is just in front of its caudal peducle (just in front of its tail) on the left side. There are no other spots on the right side of its body.
It is still swimming fine, eating good, etc... Is this possibly ich, or another disease? I have never had a fish with disease before, so I am not sure.
Any input would be helpful. Sorry for no pics, I am at work at the moment.

Looking at pictures online and in the pictures thread in this forum, I believe it looks more like Lymphocyctis. What can I do to treat this, and is it deadly for the fish? I am not positive if it is this, but the white dots are large, not small white dots, and it looks similar to the yellow tang pictures posted. Thanks.

if it is lymphocystis(spell?)...what I have heard is that it may or may not go away, but I don't think there is anything to treat it.

ok, that is what i have read.
Can ick have large white dots, or is it typically always small white dots? (also black)

I was told from my lfs owner that ich usually doesn't get much bigger than the end of a standard #1 sized paper clip. I personally have never even seen ich get even that big before. But idk for sure.

ok, thanks, that helps. The one dot on the pectoral fin is larger than the end of a paper clip. So I am leaning more towards it not being ich.
Thanks for the input.

I will try to get some pics later tonight also, I know pics are much better than descriptions.
Thanks again.

yeah, pics might give us a better idea, but like I said, I would like to hear what other people think about it as well.

Pics would be very helpful. It may be lymphocystis but in all honesty it could very well be ich. This is the reson for full quarantine. Lymph is treated with a healthy diet and prestine water conditions. You can help the fish heal by adding vitamines to their food, it will help build up the fish's immune system. Have you read the informtion in the Common Treatment FAQ about hyposalinity in case it is ich? It is best to be ready for anything.
