Distichopora violacea - nonphotosynthetic?

aha! found something. google "bostonreefers" its a .org . then stick /forums/showthread.php?t=25443 on the end. aparrently its nonphoto but needs too much phyto for most to keep it alive.

Its definatly a hydrozoa but this is one where there is not a lot known about it. Very diificult species to find info on, have you found someone that is selling one?

Yea most of the nonphoto species dont do well because of the need for constant feedings. If you like that purple color you might like a purple brush gorgonian. They are photosynthetic, and are easy to keep IMO. Mine is doing awesome and the purple color looks wild.
