Distilled water

I am getting back into saltwater after several years without any fish at all. When I had saltwater I used distilled water instead of RO water. We have a distiller for our drinking water because our well water is very high in nitrates. I talked to the lfs and they told me distilled is not good b/c the PH of distilled is too low (6.0) vs RO water which is 7.0. To me this doesn't sound right. Our well water is very high in TDS which is why we have a distiller instead of a RO unit. I guess I could purchase a RO for the aquarium but the membane will not last long and buying and hauling water is not much fun. What do you think. Is distilled water ok?
Thanks Dan:thinking:

It goes in this order
RO/DI
Distilled
Tap
IMO Distilled is better than tap so I wouldnt worrie about it. Do a PH Test on the water before it goes in the tank and see what it is.

I dont think that distilled would be too bad, because where I live, the tap water has triple x the amount of flourine reccomended in it (long story) but ro/di water isnt that expensive

I have been using distilled water for a while now. I can get it for around 50 cents a gallon at wally world (aka Wal-Mart) and it has worked great for me. I have a fish only tank so I don’t know if there would be a problem with anemones or corals.
