ok dumb question.. what's the difference between distilled and regular?? i've been using city water with chemicals that make it "safe" for reef tanks.

water is boiled. the steam is captured, cooled, and bam, distilled water. this removes all impurities and leaves nothing but hydrogen and oxygen molecules. no calcium, chlorine, lead, fluoride, etc that is commonly found in tap water.
i would def use distilled or RO/DI. i dont understand how some magical chemical can remove all of the stuff in tap water.

Most of those "tap safe" products only remove chlorine or chloramines. They leave a lot of junk in the water.
