distilled water

For the last month I've been buying RO water from wegmans and been going through all of it every week( with water changes); i recently asked my old chem teacher who has a disstiller for the class if i could get 5 gallons every week. It's the first time i got it and of course i tasted it. it doesn't taste right. maybe bitter but it has its own taste.. is this normal??.. I defiantly don't want to risk my tank set up using bad disstilled water from a chem teacher.. who is a good teacher, smart guy

I use distilled water on my tank. I have no issues. I would be sure to test the water you are getting with a TDS meter to ensure the water is properly distilled.

TDS meters dont run very expensive! A deff must imo....u can test ur tap water, distilled, RO, or RO/DI to insure ur getting the purest water u can get! Dont test ur saltwater though, for some reason they arent made to do this...

TDS meter?? don't have.. what does your distillled water taste like? haha
Your tongue does not a TDS meter make
Do you also judge salinity by taste?
I'm just playing...sorry....
Distilled water tasted like crap...well, not like crap, but bad....
Its the salts and minerals in water that gives it taste, distilled water has no salts or minerals (hopefully).
