is it anything like what the previews make it seem?

i dont think the previews do the movie justice...
and to make things even better there should be another one...
the movie was almost like a documentry...but fiction obviously...

Yea, I'm been almost foaming at the mouth waiting for it.
Do you guys know the whole background behind this movie? That is was supposed to be the Halo (xbox game) movie, but conflicts between Fox, Universal, and Microsoft prevented it. But Peter Jackson really wanted to give the director an opportunity, so they adopted the director's short film, Alive in Joburg
to a feature film.
Or where the movie is influcent from? The real life District 6 in South America?

i have heard alot about that...i think that with this movie that neil blomkamp proved that he can direct a great sci-fi movie...he would be a great Halo director...
Hopefully the movie buzz can be revived and they can begin production...
back to district 9...i really want to see his short film but i havent looked for it on the internet yet...

another thing that really impressed me is that this movie only had a 30 million dollar budget...that is a relatively small budget for a movie...and it was still a great movie...

(also, if you want goosebumps on the back of your neck, watch the Halo short film by Neill too
)
As for the cost, yea, it's insanely low, but with Jackson's studio (Weta Digital) probably doing the brunt of the graphics, I won't doubt if the numbers are deflated a bit to make D-9 appear to make some serious numbers. Also they took a more viral marketing compagin, bus stop ads are a lot cheaper then 30secs of commercial airtime.

there has to be a sequel...the entire movie lead you towards a point that hasnt come yet...we really dont know why they showed up in the first place...and what will happen when christopher returns?
