diy fuge out of eggcrate?

hey everyone..
i know that peopole make them with powerheads and what not..
butt could you make a box with 3 sides on it and put it in the tank or in the sump with a light? i assume you need light. im new to them but they control phosphates?
anyways.. if you think its possible to make it succesful pleases say so!

Ive seen similar things done before and but I questian eggcrete. some people have pilled a bunch of rock rubble in a corner of there tank and let the cheato flot across the top of the tank. works but not very well and deffinatly ugly. yes a properly maintaned refugium can lower phosphates and nitraites. I myself love to see larger refugius just for the dedicated ph offset light, greater water volume, better controle of the macro algeas, and its just cooler. with that being said what can I do to help

well i built a box out of egg crate and zipties
people say that you can make one if y ou drill a fish bagger thing. the clear box they out fish in b4 they bag em and add a small powerhead.. with the egg crate the hole are big enough that flow will go in and out? and with some cheato and rock rubble would it work? if you put it in the tank on the back wall would that work? with the light on during the day?

yes that should work. i do the same thing for attaching mushrooms after i frag them. took a fish collection box, drilled holes in it and covered the bottom in sand. when i frag some mushrooms i put a few pieces of rubble rock on the sand in the box and hang the box with mushrooms in it. this should work find, but that sized box (depending on your tank size) may not be big enough to hold the amount of macro you need to be worth it. how big is your tank?

i dont see why it wouldnt but are you talking about making the intire thing out of egg create?

its a 90 gallon tank.
i was hoping to but i forgot about sand..
ill have to get a fish collection thing..
how abig does it need to be? they seem pretty small. is there more than one size?
