I need help from someone who is "electrically inclined" or has done this before:
I am trying to avoid paying $150 for the "Ice Cap" ballasts that run 110 Watt 48" VHO Fluorescents. I read that the tubes need a ballast that can put out 1500mA. I found a ballast at HD for $27 designed to run 96" HO tubes and it can put out 2150mA at 120V & 60Hz. Will this ballast run the VHO's at full capacity? Has anyone ever done this?
Has anyone ever found Actinic bulbs at HD or Lowes or anywhere else outside the Aquarium specialty shops? I found 40W 6500 Daylights for $4 a piece, but no Actinics.
