DIY MH/VHO Combo or DIY MH/PC Combo Users!!

How close are your VHO/PC bulbs to the Metal Halide bulb? As we all know MH bulb creates a lot of heat, so if a VHO/PC bulb is TOO CLOSE to the MH, will it melt? explode?
what is appropriate distance in inches? will 1" - 1.5" be too close?

That should be OK,but if you could get your reflector inbetween them that would help alot...VHO,and pretty much all flourescent bulbs are not so much afected by heat.But COLD will affect thier performance...
