DIY moonlight idea

Hello all,
did anyone try to use car neon light as a moonlight for the tank??? As i can't find blue LEDs here in Israel, i think this is the only option. Any oppinions

actually, that is exactly what I am doing. It works fine. all the fish need is one blue light, and the LED does a great job.

I make my own and sell them (or trade for coral) here in Indiana. I use blue LED's and 9 or 12V DC power supplies. Do you have access to a cold cathode computer light? I am experimenting on using those. I will let you know if it works. Let me know if you need wiring diagrams or anything. HTH. - Joe -

cold cathode is really cool stuff.. i got a blue one in my computer and it runs all day and i dont think it produces any measurable heat differnece.. and is room temp to the touch

i use 9 dollar blue rope lights from wal-mart. cheap and effective
and since it's that time of year when people are putting up holiday lights, i'm sure you can find some just about anywhere.
