DIY Nano 'fuge question

I'm going to build a microfuge for my 5 gallon nano. Im going to get a plastic container taller than the tank and put a hole in it and tube that for the overflow/return, and then use a small power head to pump water into the container.
I've seen some pre built units that do this basically, so I know it'll work, but I want to find out how much water can flow through what size hole. I'm thinking about one of the smallest possible powerheads I can get, something like a rio50, so I don't think i need very large tubing to flow the water back to the tank, just wanted to get an idea before I go to the store.
Also at my local K/W-Mart they have in the light bulb section a "clip on book light" that uses 3 fairly bright LEDs, would that be enough, I've heard of Cheato growing in aquaclear refugium conversions with a night light so I'm hoping that would be enough, otherwise there are a few more options that I can look into.
I'm also going to make it big enough for my heater and see if there is room for one of those nano tank size airstone skimmers.
Thanks for the help on the pipe size. I'm going to take some pictures and post them here and a few other places probably too so anyone can do this later.

You can probably use a 1/2" bulkhead with little trouble... you didn't state the size of your fuge, but if you have a 5g tank, you can't be talking more than a gallon, and fuges do not need high flow rates. 1/2" will easily handle 10gph, which is more than you'd want to put through a 1g fuge.

Yeah was thinking about 1 gallon net, I think its going to be one of those tupperware type containers you'd put your cereal in to keep it fresh, saw one for 3 bux at the local mart store. Do you think being the required flow is so low I could use one of those aqualifter pumps instead of a power head with half the blades taken off the impeller? I'm going to be putting macro algae and some rubble rock, i've found a nice little clip on LED light with 3 bright LEDs for just a few bux too. I think the little extra net water volume will help me out too being the tank is actually riding the line between pico and nano.

I'm not sure you'd have to hack up a powerhead... one of those micro pumps they sell for little table fountains would be perfect for the job.
