Does anyone have any plans for a DIY Phosban? Ive heard some people made one out of PVC or Acrylic Tubes and want to make one for my 55 gal.

I have seen a couple diy out of acrylic tube. For the cost of a phosban reactor. ($35) you cnat really build one much cheaper. You almost have to use acrylic instead of pvc so you can see how the media is moving to check the flow.
Just my opinion of course, but I bought one instead of building one.

It's gotta be a pretty simple project. There isn't much to the reactors.
On the flip site, the reactors themselves aren't very expensive... ??

All it does is pass water through the media. "Reactor" is a pretty fancy name... it doesn't really live up to it.
Water is pushed down to the bottom, then allowed to slowly move upwards through the media then out. A phosban reactor is really only about 5 plastic parts - a body, lid, a standpipe, a little plastic disc full of holes, and a sponge of the same size.
You don't need a sump to run one. The namesake product (Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactor) product can be set up as HOB, you just attach a powerhead to the intake and dangle it in the tank.

What kind of media do you put in a phosban reactor?
GFO, when I used to run mine. Be prepared for your Alkalinity to drop. That is the reason I no longer run mine. Dripping Kalk into your skimmer does the exact same thing, without having to worry about your Alk dropping or spending the extra cash on the media and reactor.
