DIY Seahorse Feeder

Made this seahorse feeder that works pretty well. All the pipe is from home depot, the turkey baster is from Walmart, the Styrofoam is from Michael's, and the soda bottle bird feeder is from the website science bob store. You'll need some plumbing tape to fasten the bird feeder to the PVC pipe. No glue is needed. Below are a link to the bird feeder and one of the PVC joints.

If I put that in my tank...I'm sure the horses will not come out to eat.

A clear 1 inch rigid tube, soak the frozen Mysis in freshwater for a few minutes...the food will sink then. Pour it into the rigid tube while you hover it over their feeding dish. All done, gently remove the tube, and seahorses will feed from their dish.

Flower...the food sinks if you soak it in SALTwater...if you soak it in FW, it will fly all over the place.

LOL...maybe my frozen food had enough salt in it to make it sink as it thawed. I was using a little Dixi cup a little over half filled. I was only melting one cube.

It's been a while since I fed my seahorses with the tube method into a feeding dish. My Potbelly and Kuda horses like to chase their food, so now I just rinse the cubes until they melt...I turn off the pumps, but not the bubbles, and just invert the net and let the food fly all over for them to chase down and eat. The only ones that ate from the feeding dish were the Erectus.

I have a bunch of peppermint shrimp to eat what the horses miss. The Erectus would wallow in the dish and send the food all over as well, so being little piggy's is just a way of life. Macroalgae is my friend.
