DIY Wooden Canopy Question

I'm in the process of building a new canopy for my 75 gallon reef tank. I have a 4-bulb icecap VHO ballast. I plan on mounting the bulbs to the underside of the canopy lid with coralife lamp clips. I have one actinic, two 50/50's, and one daylight bulb. My questions are 1. What order should I configure the bulbs in (blue-50/50-white-50/50)? and 2. What is the recommended distance you would suggest to use between the bulb and the surface of the water? Thanks

Hey Volitan, I would configure them like this. The actinic closest to the front, the 50/50 white, the 50/50 blue and the daylight furthest back. I love the dark blue look. I ran six 3ft actnic vho's on my tank for awhile. I loved it. My neighbors thought I had a club inside though. My tank sits dead center in the fortier. So those actnics made the whole street glow blue.
And as far as a distance between the water and bulbs. Mine are probably 8in off the water???Give or take...

I did mine real cheap - 12" side boards and mounted shop light reflectors wired with elect ballasts underneath the lid. running 4 uri's 2 super act in front and 2 aquasuns in the rear. got pics of lights seperate and together if ya wanna check em out. hight is apps 8" from water level btw.
