Do clowns really have this much personality?

We purchased two false percs yesterday. They are fairly small and are the only fish we have at the moment in our 75 gallon tank. They got in the tank around 7:30 last night and of course we couldn't take our eyes off of them! We are such proud parents. They were doing great at 12:30 last night. This morning i get up and one is in the corner flopped on the sand on his side. I almost had a heart attack. I finally found the other one in the back of the tank behind a rock. I went back to the one at the front and soon after he/she was getting my full attention it started swimming around. I opened the blinds to get a little light on the tack and the one behind the rock popped out to see what was going on. A few minutes later they found each other again and are showing themselves off! Was it possible that my fish was "playing dead" to get some attention or was he depressed that he/she had lost its friend?
The light runs for about 6 hours in the evening/night? Is this an okay setup for them?
thanks! I've included a pic of the little guys!

He must be sleeping. Every morning I wake up and walk in the den. That one clown is laying on its side in the bottle of the tank.

I'm glad it's common for them to sleep on their side like that. I still have panic attacks every morning when I come in and they are like that!

i read one of your previous posts..dont allow direct sunlight on your tank or you will have several types of algae outbreaks including diatoms, and green algae. given your tank in the path of the sun, that could be the answer to your algae problem..

the early morning sun hits the windows so what we normally do is put a towel over the sides of the tank so the sun doesn't hit it? We have forgotten a few days so that might be the problem! lol

The sun or any lighting is not the cause of the algae. Nutrients (phosphate, nitrate) are the limiting factor. Not lighting.
Julian sprung/Charles Delbeek said it best in TRA vol 1.. Something like this
Car stereo..
if you leave the power button off, you can turn the volume knob as much as you like, but your still not going to hear anything. Turn on the power, and mess with that knob, and it will hopefully make your windows rattle..
Now, relate the power button to nutrients.. volume knob to light (sun or what ever) and the sound that you hear to algae..
Leave the power (nutrients) off, and you can turn th evolume (lights) up, and you wont hear (have algae).
Turn on the power (over feed, underskim, use filters IE; nutrients), and turn up the volume (add more light), and things start to rock (grow).

we have those big thick blinds. You can see them in some of my other threads in pics of my tank. That might be why we have diatoms still.
