Do fish ever make noises?

Haha.. stupid question but just out of curiosity.. could a fish physcially make a noise? Like a click, or whatever?

I don't think thats a bad question, I have a clown fish that makes a squeeking sound when he is having an argument with my striped damsel! It almost sounds like a squirrel. I would like to know if anyone else has heard noises...

Sure:
Banggai cardinal are known to grunt, and click. I suspect other fish do as well.

WE HAVE A PISTOL SHRIMP, IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE SOMETIMES. SOUNDS LIKE A ROCK BEING THROWN AT A WINDOW. MY HUSBAND THINKS IT IS CALLING FOR THE WATCHMAN GOBY. BUT I DON'T SEE HOW ANYONE CAN HEAR A FISH. ha ha ha THAT WAS A GOOD ONE.

My Humbug and Sargeant Major makes a chirping sounds as well.

there are croakers and drums
2 in this book i have are
a cubbyu
and a
jack-nife fish
both common to aquariums according to the book
i used to fish in mexico alot and we would catch these bottom feeders that we called croakers
sound just like a frog
