Most fishes do have a "tongue". Fish tongues however do not resemble the muscular tongues of humans. The tongue of a fish is formed from a fold in the floor of the mouth.
In some species of bony fishes the tongue has teeth which help to hold prey items. The name of one genus of argentinid fish, Glossanodon, literally means "tongue teeth".
The tongue of the lamprey can be protruded from the mouth. It has horny teeth and is used to rasp flesh from its prey. Most fishes however cannot protrude their tongues.

I thought the reason FW fish are so much easier to care for was because they need to drink less water. SW fish need to drink more because of the salt, therefore requiring excellent water quality to avoid drinking tank pollution. Sound right to anybody out there?

Not really because the salt will damage the system. Saltwater fish are alot harder than fresh for lots of different reasons.
Fish don't 'drink' as you would think of. They don't need to because the water goes through there body.

Saltwater fish are in a water environment that is saltier than their body. Osmosis draws water through their skin out of their body. Saltwater fish need to drink water to replenish this constant loss.

Thomas whenever they breath, doesn't some of that water go to a necessity, not just out of the gills? That's what I mean by not drinking how u would think...
I'm just very curious now, lol

How do you mean this, necessity? do you mean like when you or I are thirsty we take a drink of water because we get dehydrated? Well how would a fish get dehydrated under the water? LOL Sorry couldn't resist.
as far as I know it just flows over the gills, not into anything else, however if a fish takes in a piece of food then you would think that water then does also enter the stomach, right? So they have to get some of that in there. so this would/should get processed like anything else and then excreated I believe.
There is moisture in the food we eat and we can open and close the back of our throat when we are ready to swallow this foodand or liquid. Perhaps a fish can flush out this water before the food can actually enter the stomach. Not sure.
But water passing over the fish gills is meant for one thing only that I know of.
This might be a question for Terry B
