I have recently added a rather large hermit crab to my tank (2-3 inches) and about a dozen little ones (1/4 inch) as clean up crew. They have been devouring the Diatom algae that was growing on the LR and surface of the sand, which of course makes me happy.
In the last 2 days I lost 2 of my smaller damsels (a dottyback and a domino) about 1 inch each. The domino disappeared yesterday and I can't find him anywhere. The dottyback I found this mornig, half eaten on the sandbed with a bunch of the little crabs all over him.
Both fish were acting OK the night before, but since my cycle just finished about 4 days ago, I am not sure if they died off on their own, or got snagged by the big hermit.
