Do I need a bigger w/d?

I bought my tank and w/d from a local fish guy. My tank is a beautifull 180g acyrlic. And my w/d is a nice sea life systems premier series. My concern is that this w/d is rated for a 125g tank and mine is a 180g. I was originally going to go fish only but decided to go reef instead. Will this size w/d be fine or should I demand this guy get me a bigger one. I really hope it will be fine because this is the worst guy in the world to deal with and I know that if i do make him get me a bigger one it wont be the same brand it will probably be a cheaper brand that he will give me because he claims he already lost money on me.

Well, often the size of a wet dry is determined by the volume of water the system will hold in the even of a power outage (eg the amount of water that will still flow over the overflow and down into the wet dry before the water level falls below the overflow opening things). Some of this is based on the actual 'footprint' dimension of the tank, rather than the overall volume.
Not sure if that is exactly right, or if it makes any sense.
But anyway.
If you are doing a reef tank, and you really don't much like this guys anyway, you might very well be able to tell him to take his wet dry and his attitude and ________ (fill in comment) it.
You can create a refugium using a regular tank under the stand. There is a lot of DIY stuff out there if you feel comfortable....do you have a reef ready tank or one with over the back overflows?
If you are doing a reef tank with lots of LR and LS, you may not need one at all. So there are definitely options for you.
I wouldn't really want to deal with a guy with an attitude like that. Sounds like a real pain.

I'd go to wally world, get one of there cheap 55's and then to the hardware store for some plexi glass and silicon. Cut your baffles, place where you want in the 55. Make it your wet/dry + refugium, drill for external pump or use an internal pump. Should fit well under a 180.
