do i need a chiller?

i am thinking about putting up a tank with some sharks in it. probably bamboo shark or maybe even an apaulette shark. anyways, i talk to someone and they said that i need a chiller for my tank. my friend has quitar rays also, do they both need a chiller?

Is your tank going to be in direct light? Sharks like subdued lighting, so heat from that is not the issue with a good design. If your water stays within an acceptable range, I don't see the need for a chiller. Although if it is going to be sitting in direct sunlight I would add one just to be safe.

With your friends rays. Again, only if he has temp. problems. If so I like to plumb my chillers outside, they give off heat when in use. Some have been successful with putting them in seperate cabnetry next to the stand and vented outside.
