Do I need a skimmer?

I have a 30 gallon tank with a filter on it and I'm only going to have a dwarf lionfish in there. Do I need a skimmer or am I okay with just the filter?

Keep up with regular water changes, don't overfeed, and maintain your hang on filter, and you should be fine w/o a skimmer.

You don't need a skimmer, but it helps a lot. It really comes down to whether or not you're willing to spend the money for a skimmer, or be more fanatical about maintenance.

I have a skimmer on a 20 gal. I wouldn't have a tank without one but thats just me.
I have always loved the lions. I think thats what got me in this hobbie. I have a fuzzy dwarf and he was my favorite fish until he found a cave that he likes to hide in. Like all the time during the day. I never see him any more .

It's cheaper to do water changes...I have a 24g and never need one. :happyfish
