Do I need a wet/dry?

have a new 137 gallon tank with some LR, DSB, 6 assorted fish, 3 anenomes, 3 shrimp. It is cycled because we used stuff from the old tank. So far, we are using the Fluval 304 and Fluval 404 from the two old tanks. I have 6 powerheads going too. At a LFS today, the guy was horrified that I didn't have a wet/dry and sump. My question is, do I really need one? From reading these forums, it sounds like people are getting away from wet/dry's, but now this guy has me doubting myself. We were hoping to someday have enough live stuff going to get rid of the Fluvals and just use a skimmer with the DSB and LR. Will that work?

Considering your plans to eventually go filterless,A sump would be good to keep that skimmer in.Also you can put your heater in it.Plus any water changes/evaporation replacement is done there instead of the main tank.I would say YES get one,but skip the filteration in it...You should also look into DIYing a sump out of a 15 or 20 gallon tank instead...It would be MUCH cheaper, and probably better for your application than a store bought wet/dry...
