Do I need my Emperor 280 filter when I have a Canister Filter?

Howdy,
About a month ago I bought an Rena XP3 for my 46 gallon bowfront reef tank. I also have a Emperor 280 filter. I got the Rena XP3 because I wasn't satisfied with the Emperor.
Now that I have the XP3 and a Coralife Super skimmer do I even need the Emperor 280 filter? I've been just running it without filters for water flow but I already have two Maxi-jet 1200's in there.
Can I toss that Emperor 280 filter then?
Any tips are much appreciated!

its not needed. it wont hurt at all, but a lot of people go all natural. you dont need mechanical filtration if your flow is good enough to keep stuff off of the sand bed so your skimmer pics it up. and if you have a canister filter too, then its realy not necessay. just get enough flow with powerheads. once i set up my sump (if my mom ever lets me), im getting rid of my filter.
