Do not be afraid of terrorists... be angry

I just watched the discovery channel movie, "The Flight that Fought Back". Had quite an impact on me. This is the true story of Flight #93 that crashed in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 after being hijacked. The film is narrated and pieced together by the families of the passengers on that plane. Many of these family members spoke over the telephone to the victims after the hijacking occurred. I urge everyone to watch this movie.
I will not get into my political views or the war in Iraq because that is not what this thread is about.
There were voice recordings of the flights that crashed into the World Trade Center. The hijackers were telling the passengers that they were going to land the plane and make demands. They told the passengers to stay seated and that they'd be safe... the passengers believed them and this is why thousands of other people died that day.
Flight #93 was hijacked by 4 people, one of whom was flying the plane after the flight crew were killed. There were 33 people on board. Clearly these people were enough to overpower the terrorists. These people fought back and probably saved many lives. All hijackers hope that our fears will allow them to successfully murder innocent people.
If I am ever faced with a terrorist, I will fight and die if necessary because it is my best chance of living. If everyone shares this attitude, then no hijacking will ever be successful. We have the strength to stop terrorist attacks. The real war against terror must sometimes be fought by regular people, because we are the targets. Innocent people are sacrificed for political strategy. There are too many of us for everyone to be protected at all times. Please pass along this message to anyone. Regular citizens are the only people who can truly stop terrorists. If citizens are strong and angry, our society will no longer be plagued by the murderers like those from 9/11. Just because we are innocent does not mean we are weak.
I'm urging everyone reading this, if someone tries to victimize you... fight. I promise I'll do the same.

I've seen parts of this show, and its pretty good. I also saw an old movie yesterday in the days when terrorism began with just plane hijackings. It too represented an actual terrorist moment.
I'm left to wonder if these types of movies/docudramas don't actually encourage terrorists?
In the old movie I watched, the terrorist....just two guys, beat up several of the men, and even killed one and thru him out of the plan as an example. I'm a firm believer that sky marshals should be on airplanes...at least in this country. That doesn't save us from from terror on international planes however.

I agree with what was stated and I truly feel for the families who lost their dear loved ones. However, here's where the problem lies. Beth, you said having sky marshals on planes would help prevent terrorism (and it most likely will)but you have to remember that on these planes these were all licensed pilots who flew large jets and had worked for the airlines for MANY years and "could be trusted." What if that happened with the sky marshals? Its a good idea, just something to think about...

Well, arm the pilots then. I guess there is entry at any point, but the dougher we make it, the hard it gets for the terrorists.
Perhaps some groundwork is more in order anyway....like cleaning up the boarder situation. If the boarders were clean, if immigrations or visa-getting were cleaned up, then we wouldn't need to worry about airplanes, would we?

Yeah, I dont want to get into what I think of President Bush, but he does need to take more serious consideration of the borders. We might still have to worry about regional airliners. Ones that fly within the U.S. Al-Qaeda still can communicate even when in the U.S. Plus, if we did arm our pilots, there is the SLIGHT change that it could become worse. Those pilots were licensed and everything and if THEY would have been armed... :scared:

I think the bottom line is that all the security regulation in the world cannot prevent terrorist attacks. If planes were safe, then what about buses, malls, trains, sporting events, etc. I don't believe that President Bush, or any president for that matter, can provide enough security for everyone. As I said before, if we (ordinary people) are the targets, then we are the only ones who can truly stop these attacks. Our fears and trust in these scum have allowed these things to happen. There's a lot more of us than there are of them. I'd rather go down fighting...

Spending time in iraq i have come to have many views. first off i agree, i would take the kill the terrorists myself. Being trained i would know how. secondly i do think bush is a complete idiot. (i dont mind sharing my views) im very anti-war. But if attacked i will attack back...i think everyone should share the same views...not completely with mine...but in fighting back....no point in bowing down...

well.. im pretty sure everyone on that plane would of fought if they kenw they were going to die instead of "being held for ransom" we were always taught items are not worth your life.. and they were tricked into feeling that way.. they had no idea they were with suicide missioners
