Do panther groupers eat clean up crews?

I know that my clown trigger is trouble. I'm kind of bummed, because he's my favorite fish. But since my tank is CC, I'm thinking maybe for the good of everyone, the fish guy who set this tank up maybe ought to take the trigger back so I can get a cleanup crew.
Which leaves me to wonder about my other favorite fish, my panther grouper. Will he leave the crew alone? He's about 5" now.

Not sure, so please listen to the experts here rather than me, but I have always thought that anything from the grouper family will eat anything they can get in their mouth.

I'm inclined to agree that they are not safe with inverts. You might try to ask about them in the aggressive forum. Someone there probably has first hand experience with them. :)

You might consider a large hermit crab to give a try,
I have a 15" Panther and a 7" Blueline (aprox sizes)
There is a Bahama star in there too.
I'm not sure what kind of hermit it was, but it did have red legs.
Both Groupers would go down and sit against it waiting for it to start cleaning them. All the crab ever realy did was pinch them, but they kept coming back for more.
Crabs shell was about 2/3 size of a golf ball.
The crab did a great job of cleaving up all the hair algae it could get its mits on.
But.... The crab kept getting ahold of the Bahana star, literaly riding around on it. I don't know if it would have killed the star or not. I removed the crab, and gave it away.
