Set up a 20 gallon QT on 1/12 for Coral Beauty w/ ich. Followed directions setting up QT per the site. Seeded tank w/ gravel from main tank and used half water from main tank. Added copper treatment and CB on 1/13. Tested for ammonia and nitrates on 1/15 and 1/16. Since new tank there has been an ammonia spike. Did one water change on 1/15 and another on 1/16, replacing 1/4 of tank each time. Do I need to add more copper? Coral Beauty still eaty very well and not scratching against pvc or gravel. Ich has gotten worse past two days. Is there anything else I should do? Salinity was at 1.019 but should be lower now b/c added 1/4 new water last night. Haven't checked it yet. Tks for any info.

HEY CHARLESTON...
WATER CHANGES WILL LOWER THE LEVEL OF COPPER IN THE WATER....BY DOING A 50% WATER CHANGE, YOU
WILL REMOVE 50% OF THE COPPER...BY ADDING BACK 50% OF
NEW WATER, YOU WILL STILL HAVE 50% COPPER IN THE WATER...
HOWEVER, DO CONTINUE WATER CHANGES TO LOWER THE LEVEL.
IF YOU WANT TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS OF REMOVING THE
COPPER FROM THE WATER, GET KENT MARINE CHEMI-PURES AND
PLACE ONE IN THE SUMP...REMOVE IT AFTER 24 HRS., RINSE IT
OFF IN COLD WATER AND RETURN IT TO THE SUMP...DO THIS
FOR A WEEK OR SO UNTIL YOUR COPPER LEVEL IS WHERE YOU
WANT IT...
ALSO, WHEN YOU FIRST OPEN THE CONTAINER OF CHEMI-PURE,
MAKE SURE YOU RINSE IT GOOD OR IT WILL RETURN BLACK
CARBON INTO YOUR TANK WATER....
REGARDING YOUR QUESTION ON DOING ANYTHING ELSE FOR ICK, DO A SEARCH FOR "HYPOSALINITY" AND READ BETHS STICKY WHICH IS THE FIRST THREAD ON TOP OF THIS FORUM...
REGARDS....

alot of people don't like this stuff but I used Rid Ick. It is formalin based and will turn your silicone blue if you have a glass tank. It cured my purple tang in about 3 days. Had a severe case of ick. Just make sure you do the water changes in between treatments.
