Do you guys think that my case of Ick has gone away BY ITSELF?

Alright heres my story... i have a 20gal tank with a 2.5in pacific sailfin tang, 2in cinnamon clown, and a 3in sleeper goby. The first two fish that were in my tank were the tang and goby, they got ick and i cured it with hyposalinity. Recently i noticed that the new addition (cinnamon clown) was coming down with ick, I checked the water quality and everything was A'ok. So knowing that he may lose his appitite pretty soon i decided to feed the fish more than the usual so that they would have a good meal before the disease really set in... anyways, the next day i woke up and all was ok. Its now been a week since the ick went away and everyone is great and eating like a pig. i keep my fish fat :D you guys think the ick is gone for good??

Ok, ok... i know tangs arent supposed to be in 20gal which i didnt know till i found this message board ( the lfs says its ok!!!!! hah!!!!) :D anyways i plan to upgrade to a 75 pretty soon. i had a feeling someone would say somethin about that. ;) :D

I'm not sure. I just experienced the same thing today. According to Beth, and I do believe what she says, there is a possibility that the ich drop from the fish and reproduce. Which means that in the near future you'll get ich again. So I don't know. I have read some posts about ich that's gone after a day or two. Is it truly and entirely gone? I don't know.

I would suggest that you feed your fish garlic soaked food over the next couple of weeks. Garlic is a mild parastic repellent.
Yes, ick has 3 stages in its life cycle, only one of which is the stage when you can actaully see the salt-like dots on the fish. Following this stage, the cystic ick drops off the fish onto the substrate and rocks, thereafter beginning its life cycle again.
With a mild case of ick, you may get away with just using the garlic treatment.

Today i woke up and checked all my fish out... everything looks good :D , the garlic sounds like a good idea just incase its not gone for good. Thanks for the replys :D

Terry is absolutely right. My suggestion to use garlic was just to offer the easist remedy to a fish that does not show any signs of disease. You will need to watch the situation very closely over the next couple of wks and be reaady to go into action with hyposalinity treatment [of all fish] if the parasite remerges.
