Do you have a canopy on your tank?

Hi,
I am trying to decide if I should purchase the $500 canopy for a new 156 gallon that I am planning on buying in the next few month. Currently I run my 90 gallon without a canopy as I am always getting in and out of the tank to feed etc. I was thinking of purchasing an Oceanic tank, stand and canopy but do not know if I need the canopy although it looks better with one...money is not a problem here. The problem with the Oceanic canopies is that they only open on the top and I would have to stand on a latter to feed the fish.....I am a 5ft. 4 inch woman. Also, wouldn't I need to take the top off to clean the tank....here the heavy thing would be a two person job. When I had a canopy in the past for smaller tanks it got taken off and banished to the garage. And lastly since Oceanic was bought out by All Glass they only make black, cherry and light oak colors (they have not updated their website to this yet but I called them to confirm). The Oceanic that I have now is a medium oak that goes with all our furniture the light oak is really really light, like blond yuck, the cherry oak is pretty but does not match many people's furniture either. Does anyone know of any other manufacturer in the US that makes 5 ft. by 2 ft. by 2 ft. tanks? Anyway, any opinions would be welcomed and please answer my pole.
Well, The pole options are not functioning properly only allowing two options and not the usual four which I need. Maybe some of you can answer what were to be my pole questions:
1. Yes I have a canopy and use it all the time.
2. Yes I have a canopy but do not use it for various reasons.
3. No I do not have a canopy but would like one.
4. No I do not have a canopy and do not want one.

I have a canopy and am in the process of building a new one. (90gal) I only have 260wcf lighting and would like to go to a higher wattage fixture, so I built a new canopy that was 12" tall so I could raise my lights from 2 inches to 7 inches above my tank.

I have a 110g with a stand and canopy. I am about 5'11" (Oh dreaming to be 6') and I still have difficulty reaching in. I was fortunate that my brother - in - law made my canopy at his cabinet building job!!! However, if you are willing to spend that type of money I'm sure you could get one that would open up in the front for easier access.

I have a cnopy and I think it finishes off the tank. I guess I am kind of lucky because a corner of one of my glass cover pieces broke off. So I just lift the lid and pour the food in the tank there. Mkaes it a little easier for feeing.
I agree that for $500 you could get someone to make a canopy for you that does what you want and also looks the way you want it to. Look in the classified section of your paper. Even one of the many handyman guys could probably help you out.

I have a 125g, 6ft long, tank that is topless and have no desire to have a canopy. I had the stand custom made and had the option, but quickly declined. I had one on my 75g tank and hated it.
It eventually came off. I will never own another tank with a canopy, unless of course I had a tank service, and that would take all the fun out of this hobby!!

Had one once, and did not like it! Would never get another. I liked the looks of them, but not the problems they create. I solved that dilema by getting a fake canopy, hides the lights, but is open on the top, heres a pic of mine when i first started it.

Both. Reef has no canopy. I love to look through the top and see the corals shimmer in the light with the ripple of the surface water.
100 gal fowlr has partial light canopy in rear with 8" opening across front.
