do you keep you protein skimmer on all of the time?

I just got this new skimmer and I was wondering if you are suppose to leave the skimmer running in the sump all of the time?

There should be no reason to turn off the unit, even if you don't seem to be skimming anything at the moment.

I only turn mine off during maintenance.
Also with the addition of some additives it is recommended to turn the skimmer off.

Mine is on 24/7 unless I am doing maintenance on it.

I turn mine off when I feed my corals. I don't know how much it could take out that I'm trying to feed my corals but I figure having it off for a few hours a week sure won't hurt anything.
