If so which one?? I want to replace the two hob filters on my Baby tank. I run a rena on my main tank with my chiller.
I like my rena - very easy to disconnect and clean.
I am looking at Rena Filstar, Marineland and Fluval. They are all pretty close in price for a small one. The Rena is up to 45 gal, the maineland 40 gal but the Fluval says 25 gal.
I can get the Rena local but its about 30 bucks more then ordering on line. Since we are leaving in about 2 weeks for vacation, I think it would help to keep the tank more stable.

I use the fluval 205...its rated up to 40gal and i use it on my 36 bow. I actually like it...have to do the maintenance on it, like rinse the sponges and the ceramic rings in ur old water...also i replace the charcoal like every month and a half!
easy to disconnect and stop the water, simply flip up the valve things. Dont forget to do the stop however as it will continue to flow....

Also u have to prime it but when i feed i unplug it and plug it back in w/o priming it!
Overall id buy another for another tank
Only canister ive owned however!
Im going sump on my 75!

I <3 my Fluval 305. The maintenance is easy and I have been using it for a year with no issues.

Hi,
I run a Fluval 305 on my 30g seahorse tank as well as having a sump. I love the way it disconnects. It's so easy to clean. I just run some carbon and floss in it to polish the water and keep the corals playing nice with no chemical wars. You have to purchase the spray bar separate, it doesn't come with it. I set it vertical in the tank. Oh thanks Gemmy for reminding me...I have had this fluval for 5 years with no problems. I ran it on the 90g (I ran 2 canisters on that tank) before I put it on the SH tank.

LOL..it isn't your filter, seahorses are just very messy eaters and get food everywhere and because it's a SH tank we can't get the usual algae eaters. I got a hectors goby for the hair algae, and a couple of yellow clown gobies for eating some of the extra food that's wasted.

I run 2 cascade 700s and a sump on my 45 breeder. one directly in the tank and on coming from the sump return. I run chem/mechanical in the tank only one and strait pads and ceramic on the return so my pods dont have too much of a fight making it in. I clean and change the tank only one once a month and the return maybe every two months or if i start to see a slowing in the return water. tho i have only seen it happen once in the 3 years i have been using this system and it was because one of the kids were looking into the sump and accidently pushed the intake into the mud. Getting the truth outta them took about 10 min but when i showed them all the mud in the cannister my youngest son told me that it was the older ones fault... the fight was on. anyway i hardlined a u into the intake so it's immpossible for it to get burried again. other than that i have no issues with my water Q and can go up to 3 months without water changes with additives but get better results with 1 1/2 month to 2 month water changes of 30% with additives.
