I've heard it's very tasty...given my love for lions, it sux on that level, but I'd rather see them eaten than simply killed.

Why not? Hey is it also true that their isn't an aquarium trade harvest for thim?
There SHOULD be...esp. if they can snatch up juvies. The trouble is that a full-grown volitans isn't a fish that's in high demand and IME, that's a LOT of fish to own. I've been admiring ours while perusing the forums.

Question here, I've seen mature fish such as angels go for some big bucks compared to their juvi counterparts. Think about it, I can get a juvi imperator for 40 bucks, but a fully grown adult goes for 250. Why would a lion fish be any different?

Large specimens DO command higher prices as compared to juvies. However, full-grown lions aren't as popular as angelfish, and with a full-grown volitans, you have the fact that will eat anything small enuff to fit into their mouths...not so with an angel. To be honest, other than that, lions are more hardy and I daresay longer lived in captivity, and they get along with everything that isn't potential food.
You're preaching to the choir here...I hate seeing them killed.

Divers are starting to collect them from the keys for us. We are buying them and selling on the site. They shouldn't be there....eat them, collect them, but get them out of there....

To be honest, I've had the best results moving our scorps (including the volitans) by carefully netting them.
