JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KEEPS ANY TYPE OF GAME FISH??? I AM FROM FLORDIA AND LIVING IN TENNESSEE NOW BUT I WOULD NOT MIND PUTTING SOME GAME FISH IN MY TANK BUT DOES ANYONE EVEN SELL THOSE TYPE OF FISH ALIVE???? I LOVE SHEEPHEAD, SNOOK, SNAPPER TO LOOK AT AND EAT.
I JUST THINK IT WOULD BE NEET TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE TYPE OF FISH SINCE THATS WHAT I GREW UP CATCHING. I GUESS IF I STILL LIVED IN FLA. I COULD JUST CATCH ONE AND STICK IT IN THE TANK BUT TENN. IS A LITTLE FAR.

The main concern would be the legality of keeping game fish in captivity. I am not sure what Florida Fish and Game rules are but would check them out well before collecting any. The other problem I can see would be setting up a tank big enough to house them. Most of these fish can easily reach over two to three feet or more.

WELL I DONT THINK THERE WOULD BE ANY WILDLIFE RULE I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE ANYONE WITH A FISHING ROG CAN CATCH THESE FISH AS LONG AS THEY REACH A CERTAIN SIZE. AS FOR SIZE OF THE FISH AND MY TANK I DO KNOW HOW BIG THE SNOOK GET I HAVE CAUGHT CAUGHT THEM 3 FEET ALL DAY AS FOR THE SHEEPHEAD THEY DONT GET THAT ARGE LARGETS ONE I HAVE SEEN IS ABOUT 20 INCHES BUT THE COOL THING ABOUT THE FISH IS THEY HAVE TEETH THAT LOOK LIKE HUMANS IN THERE MOUTH BUT JUST A LITTLE SMALLER. I AM LOOKING AT 400 GALLON TANK BUT IF THEY GOT TO BIG I WOULD JUST EAT THEM!!!!!!!!!:D :D

Lear 192,
In one Chicago LFS, I have seen Tarpon for sale. They are juveniles, and are 2-3 pounds. They keep them in about an 800 gallon tank. They also want 1200 bucks each for them. I would guess they come from Costa Rica because Florida wouldn't allow exportation of live gamefish.
In the same Chicago LFS, they have Garibaldi for sale. That's the California state fish (marine fish). That's where I grew up. If they caught you with one of those in CA in a fish tank, you'd go straight to the gas chamber. If you hook one while you are fishing, they can give you a ticket. I guess if they are collected in Mexican waters, and shipped to Chicago, it's legal.
I would guess that any saltwater fish available for sale in a reputable fish store in TN is legal.

Yep, I think they have about five of them There's a couple in a lagoon, and a few in a tank.
I love to fish, too. I spend at least one week every year fishing in Baja.
Oh, if only I could have a tank to keep a wahoo, a couple yellowfin tuna, and a roosterfish. Then again, it's much easier to go to Mexico!:D

I know there are stupid laws out there but explain to me the sense behind being able to hook, cook and eat a gamefish, but not humanely catch(if possible) and put a gamefish in a tank(given enough size) to watch. Our government is just silly sometimes, I often wonder how they get my paycheck right.
