Does anyone know how to ....

Does anyone know how to take a seaclone skimmer and use it in a sump. I have one and it says it can be used as a hang on or as a sump and im confused as how to put it in the sump. It seems that the intake pump wouldnt reach the water level in the sump.
Edit: Or even better yet, i could rip the maxijet 1200 off the seaclone and make my own skimmer with that pump. Anyone have any detailed instructions on a DIY skimmer?

I've got a SeaClone skimmer running in my sump now. I bought a Rio800 instead of the Maxijet b/c the Maxijet was putting tiny bubbles everywhere. However, even now, the skimmer is a ton of noise. The Rio is also much smaller and uses a compression fitting to the skimmer. Very loud though..

OK but how did you put the skimmer in the sump, that intake doesnt seem like it would even hit the water level if you placed the whole filter in the sump.

when i had my 55 gallon with a sump I bought a seaclone and i eliminated the plastic u pipe that went into the tank and was attached to the pump and hooked up the pump to the skimmer without the extension this will put your pump on the bottom in the sump :D :D

The directions that came with my clone say to do just as m1 says. You put the maxijet directly on the skimmer and place the whole thing in the sump.
