Does anyone recognize this creature?

Will be investing in new aquarium. Decided to spend some time here reading up first.

It occurred to me that someone here might be able to answer a non-aquarium question in the meantime.

Was walking on the beach (Long Island, NY) with my grandson a few weeks ago and saw the below creature washed up on shore.

Was wondering if anyone here could identify it.

Looks kind of like a ray with its wings cut off.

Yes, it does.
It's sides do look somewhat jagged/torn.
