does corner weir act as fuge?

I just got my sump going on my 120 gallon and my tank has a corner over flow with bottom drilled bulkhead.
I am using a durso standpipe and wonder if the weir will become a refugium because the chamber stays full of water?
If so would this be of much benefit on such a large tank?

It sure does. When I had my 300g with corner overflow/weir boxes running, I had all sorts of sponges, sea squirts, worms, feather dusters, etc. living in them. The boxes also seemed to be good for providing breeding grounds for a variety of pods. There was always an abundance of life in them.
