I have a two part question.
1. Do all clowns like to have an anemone as a friend in the tank?? And do all clownfish coexist with anemones, or do only certain clowns hang out with anemones??
2. If I was to get an anemone, would a single 50/50 40watt bulb be sufficent??

1) As far as Iknow all clowns will get along with an anenome. It also keeps them from sleeping in the corner.
2) I have heard that you need a lot of light for an anenome. Not sure how much though.

rfrance,
1. Yes clownfishes like to have anemones to live in. But they will do just fine without one. Also, not all clownfishes will live in an anemone. Different clownfishes have their different natural hosts anemones. So it depends with what clown you have. What clown do you have?
2. The lighting that you have might be sufficient enough but it depends on your tank size. How big is your tank?

I currently don't have a clown, but was thinking of getting a tomato clown. I have a 72 gal.

You diffenitly (sp?) need a lot more light than 1 40 watt 50/50 in a 72 gallon tank. You need at least 5.5 watts per gallon and that would be for a bubble tip. I know other anemones need stronger light. Hope this helps. :)

I agree, I'm not an expert in lighting but if you want to get a bubble tip anemones, which hosts tomato clownfish, then you need to upgrade your lighting. Currently I have one bubble tip and it lives under a compact 18 watts 50/50 lighting, which is equivalent to 50 watts in a ten gallon tank. And my sebae clown loves him, I'm so happy :D .
