Does Ich Infect Anything Else?

I have a 55 reef, with only 1 fish...a coral beauty. I also have various hermits, peppermint shrimp, stars, mushrooms, polyps, and an acropora. Noticed last night my coral beauty has ich. I am treating with a reef-safe ich medication and adding garlic to his food. Keeping my fingers crossed, but if it doesn't make it. Will ich infect anything else like the inverts or corals? If I lose the fish, then I just want to leave my tank fishless for 4-6 weeks to insure the parasite is dead, but I assume that will only work if there is no other host in the tank...so are inverts hosts? Thanks.

No ich does not effect anything but fish (thank goodness). But the more effective way of getting rid of the parasite is hyposalinity like Terry said.
