I just bought 50lbs of Figi Live Rock. It's just sitting in a box, does it need to be in water? It will probably be a day before I put my water in.

yes, keep it wet.
otherwise everything will start to die, and you'll have quite an ammonia spike. You'll probably already have some die off, so be careful

If you can not possibly get it in water - you should at least get some wet newspaper on it to prevent as much die off as possible and also keep the rock warm (72 - 80 degree)

douse a towel in tank water or fresh saltwater. Then spread the towel over the rock and set inside the house. It should be good for a day or two, as long as the towel remains wet.
When using a towel though, wash it WITHOUT any soap, to prevent any soap from getting on the rocks. good luck!

It is shippd in wet newspaper. Can you not add it into a bag (doubled or trippled), at the very least? If not then newspaper soaked in saltwater will work. Keep it warm, as stated above.
