Does live rock help with hair algae & cynobacteria?

I've had a never ending battle with hair algae and cyanobacteria. It isn't near as bad as it used to be and it's pretty controllable now but I've heard that live rock will help with these problems. Has anyone had the cyanobacteria or hair algae and than added live rock and if so what kind of results did you get? Thanks, Kevin

IMO adding live rock is just gonna add more surface for those algae to grow on. I wouldn't say they help. I'm currently battling hair algae also.

I had the same problem in my 150, Step one scrap it all out if you have cc replace it with sand( harder fo it to grow on). 2. make sure you are getting only 8 hours of light you can cut down to 6 for now. 3 use ro water only ,tap water makes it grow like a weed. Also check your lighting your bulbs may need changed if older than 1 yr.. Good luck
