Does Raising the Temperature Stop Ich?

I seem to have had some ich develop in my tank. I had put some fish in last week but the fish I added are the only ones without it. The temperature was too low in the tank when it started and my lfs said that that probably caused it. They also said if I raise the temperature to about 82 degrees that it would stop it and it would be gone. Does everyone agree with this? I hate to use chemicals if I don't have to but I don't want the fish to suffer or die because I didn't do enough in time...
All thoughts please!!!!!

The raising to 82 statement is a myth. The temperature must go all the way to 86 before you will see a difference. But then at that high, you will begin killing many of your animals.
If you are going to treat, get some garlic and mix it in with the food to help the fish's immune system and do some reading on hyposalinity in the disease and treatment forum here. Beth has a great sticky on the top about it.
