Okay... so my tank looks fine during the day with the light on... when you turn the light off at night, the little dudes come out. When I turn my light on in the morning there are all these bug looking guys crawling around on the rocks, but mostly on my back glass. A good amount too...They are clear and look a lot like the pictures of copepods I have looked up. After the light is on for about 5 minutes they all have vanished.. What are they.. are they bad.. how do I get ride of them??

Yea, I think they're pods. I mean they look like the pics right?
POds hide at night and come out in the day.
They are a very good thing. Eat uneaten food I think, as well as fish poop, and are healthy food for many fish.
I wish I had some. I'm gonna have to buy some.
SOrry, I meant to say they hide during the day, and come out at night.

It sounds like copepods to me. No need to get rid of them. They are beneficial scavengers and the fish gain a lot of nutrition by eating them.

I bought a $60 piece (as in one 8lb piece) of rock one time just because I knew it would be full of goodness... It was

I think she bought it BECAUSE it had a lot pods... Right??
I bought 45 Lbs from a good online source, and don't think I had any. The rock was good quality though.
But sep, wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy the bottled pods instead of expensive rock??
Blenny, you may be interested in buying live bottled pods. Cheaper, unless you need the rock.

I didn't see anything for awhile either. You have to look at your tank with a red light at night to see the full night activities going on.

If I was hoping for pods then that would have been a choice. This rock was in with some awesome stuff. I knew a lot of life must be in the rock. I payed a pretty penny but got all that I wanted.

I should probably do the same. All I got were some peanut worms w/ my rock, but a lot corraline.
I just can't see myself spending so much on a small piece of rock, but hey, if it's worth it...

Not a bad idea if you have a huge tank. a lot of non-mandarin fish eat them too though.
