I bought a dog face puffer a few days ago, the first day he was fine, he ate and swam all over the tank, he even found a cave to sleep in, the next day same thing, I was very pleased with him... now today, he nibbled a little of krill and he will not stay away from my overflow box, he puts his body up next to it like he is stuck but is not... why will he not stop sticking to the overflow and is this normal? thank

Sounds a little strange.
How was he acclimated?
How old is the tank?
What else is in the tank?
Parameters?
What have you tried feeding?

yeah he is weird, to say the least, I acclimated him for a hour then took him out of the bag without letting the water from the fish store go in my tank, I had a 49 gallon for over a year and now I have a 125 gallon built into the wall, it had been up and running for about 3 months, I transfer the rock and sand from the small tank into the large tank, so everything should of been okay... I had the water tested a few weeks ago and the fish store, and it was okay, I have been testing it regular, and it still good! I have two tangs and a snowflake ell, and a tone of rock!he does come off to eat, I feed him krill and he has eaten all my sponge and started eating my coral, I took the coral out and let him have the sponge, he ate all of it... maybe he ate too much! he does come off and swims around but back on it he goes to sleep! hummm

It might just be that he is comfortable in that spot / likes the flow. If he's not stuck and comes off to eat, he's probably fine. Since it is a new fish, just continue to observe, but you should be okay.

I did not use a net to take him out of the bag, all my other fish are okay!
I just got him off and he did swim around for a few but tried to go back to the overflow box, I kinda blocked it ff so he can't get sucked in, he's too big to get suck in all the way, he's about 4 or 5 inches long and is not puffed up or dark in color, so stress does not seem to be his problem. I did read online that they like the rushing of the water on there body, but wow I get scared he's going to get stuck for good! and how true was what I read?

okay, he has came off the overflow box, now all he does is sleep, he swims around a little nibbles a little on fresh shrimp then goes back to hide in the rock, and sleep, he doesn't seem very active, I hope he's okay, I thought dfp were active fish, was I wrong?
