Dog Faced Puffer or Panther Grouper

both are big messy eaters, I don't own either at the time. If you are asking which I prefer I would say the puffer. Panther groupers get huge, and they do not keep their white and black colors, as they age they tend to turn grey to brown colored.

Thanks for the info. I have had a panther grouper but never a dog faced puffer. I'm just a little nervous about the puffer. I'm Looking for something to go with my 2 1/2" picaso trigger.

Yeah; if you could keep panther groupers at about 3", you would have a great fish. But, like so many people, they get uglier with age & size. On the plus side, they're prized food fish in their native areas.

IMO, the panther shouldn't even be considered for basically anyone at any time unless they have a big shark pond. They are not suitable for the overwhelming majority of hobbyist tanks long term, and they are sold at a size that makes it almost criminal - small and cute.

i never had the panther but as far as i nko is they look great when small but horrible when grown up. As far as the dogface puffer they are sweet fish to look at and they look like a cartoon character how they look and move but sadly my became bitter and niped my dart fish alot (but not eat) so i had to sell but overall a great fish if u have big enough fish for it :p
