Dogface Puffer

My puffer seems to be having a problem. It looks as if he is attacking the glass at the back side of my tank. I can only imagine that he sees his reflection and disagrees with its presence. After he battles himself he tends to get very dark in color, then when he moves away his color returns to normal. He is feeding just fine, and has been in the tank for a little over a week now. Is this going to be a serious problem to his health? Will he eventually stop this behavior? Any input wold be great.

This Behavior Is All too common In Puffers. It May Subside As The Fish Ages, However It Could Persist.

How big is he? What size tank? What type of setup?

Mine did that when I attempted to put a flimsy background on my tank. Same exact thing, darkened up really bad and his tail was fully spread and locked that way for a little while. Stopped as soon as I took the background material off. It was the shiny crap you buy at the LFS by the foot.
